Thank you for tackling this persistent notion. Besides all the aspects you identified a factor that relates strongly to CSR and purchasing decisions is how one feels - overall - about the company selling the product. Do you like &#039;em? Do you think they&#039;re generally decent people? or jerks?
Its easier to win points in this way if you are, say, a small, local business. But big corporations can do it, too. Enterprise won me over this way a long time ago (and continues to do so each time I rent their cars). Conversely FedEx has royally ticked me off forever. 

All else being equal a sincere CSR effort could nudge me into vaguely liking a company.  For ex, I&#039;m not a big McDonald&#039;s fan, but when I learned that all their fish is MSC-certified I was impressed, maybe especially because they don&#039;t market the fact. So, when I&#039;m stuck in an airport or highway plaza with few choices I&#039;ll pick McD&#039;s (&amp; a fish sandwich) over Wendy&#039;s.]]></description>
