I think it was originally Orson Welles who said it.

Italy can be rewarding in so many different ways, but for anyone who’s somewhat career minded, it’s simply depressing and incredibly frustrating. That’s why my Italian wife and I are moving from Milan to Geneva, to admire Italy from a “safe distance”!

It’s also good you mentioned the sexism problem- people joke, but it really is tough here for a married women to get a job with a multinational corporation, since they’re afraid of them having babies! What’s more, even the young people who want to move outta mamma’s house can’t, because years of complacency has resulted in entry level jobs becoming two year unpaid “internships” ad nauseam.

Anyway, I hope you write more stuff like this- sometimes I need to commiserate with people about how schizo this country makes you after a while!
