It's been a while since I reported my take on the political scene in the US, but here goes:

Obviously, Hillary hasn't bowed out yet, but I'm thinking either a significant decision was made, or a deal, or an ultimatum was issued.

Since West Virginia, Hillary has abruptly stopped her attacks on Obama, which is a huge relief. I've been less than impressed with the fact that she had joined, three times, Hannity and others in shrill racially based attacks on him. I've long been an opponent of using race as a lever in politics, as anyone who has seen my posts will know. At least, THAT stopped, with the exception of the last comment of hers to the Supers that Obama can't pull in the 'hard working white' vote. Note the paranthesis and the added point that no one has a corner on that attribute.

I've been rather disgusted with pundits relentlessly ignoring many things, namely, things that are affecting the stats regarding blue collar white voters. The point is this:

Rush Limbaugh's 'operation chaos' significantly affected outcomes in at least 5 states, one of them Texas. I think everyone knows that, or had heard comments already to that effect. What hasn't been taken into consideration is this:

Just exactly what demographic does Limbaugh appeal to?

The short, and the long answer is blue collar whites. OK now...

If you direct your blue-collar white 'dittoheads' to cross over and cast their votes for Hillary, just which demographic is going to show the greatest impact?

Yes! You guessed it. The very same demographic Obama is purported to have a problem with. The picture is a little clearer now. The bottom line is that not only did Rush affect several state's Democratic primaries, his impact was FOCUSED on the very demographic that is claimed to be Obama's weak point. If Rush's 'operation chaos' was able to significantly impact the primaries, then absolutely, without question, the numbers applied to blue collar white voters are much more severly affected. This includes exit polls and other types of polling that has been done during the course of the campaign.

Other observations:

It looks like now Hillary is out, even though she hasn't quit. I'm not against her continuing as long as she continues to refrain from attacking Obama like she has in the past.

For the most part, on the blogs, I've seen most Democrats move on past the racial issues that were inflamed by the campaign between the two. It may even be possible that Hillary might be on Obama's ticket, which would be a plus. I don't think the claims that Hillary's supporters will vote for McCain will happen for the reasons I gave above concerning Limbaugh's tactics and their impact.

McCain is looking VERY stupid, now that Obama and him have pointed their guns at each other. His '2013' movie was a complete bomb and his assessment of the threat of Iran, elevating it to 'Soviet Union' status is just plain stupid. Not just me, a LOT of people think so, too.

Astute observations... Last time around my husband actually contributed to the McCain campaign. I questioned his logic, but it was his money afterall.

You might guess that the McCain people will not leave us alone now. We have asked nicely. We've asked ugly. We've tried to argue with them. We told them we voted for Obama in our state caucus and that we will never vote for McCain - ever - under any circumstances.

And yet they stalk us... I wish you well with the Dear John letter. He will always love you - no matter what you say.
