BTW:

On the Israeli gaffe, gas is up here now by 12 cents in three days. It's at 4.12 at the cheapest place and 4.44 at Shell.

THIS is ridiculous!

We are paying through the nose just for threats. THINK of what would happen if it were the real thing...

A bit late on the draw, but overall, major developements:

The way is clear for Obama. A BIG deal here, and history has been made. Maybe some won't like him, that is for sure, but he has too many positives that far outweigh the negatives.

Even if he doesn't have the "experience", who does, besides Republicans, and the Republicans, quite frankly, have shot their wad. I'm going to predict that come Nov 12, 2008, they will wear the shoes the Democrats did on Nov 12, 2000.

No vision and no unity.

The "angry white male", LONG a constituancy of theirs, has been emasculated by the simple fact Obama is running, and the Southern Strategy is now a ticket to oblivion.

The Religious Right? Same problem. Intolerance displayed For The Sake of God. It won't fly any more, either. After all, NONE of their heroes made it to the RNC final round...

The Free Traders? Theirs is a special hell, given the foreclosure debacle, followed by rapidly rising gas prices, featureing the weak dollar they espoused.

The Chickenhawks? Well, the less said the better. Their pet war isn't going well, no one wants it, and the very, VERY recent economic developements are bringing to the fore the issue of whether we should be putting the citizens of other nations ahead of our own.

Yes, problems elsewhere ARE important, but at what price? As justification for the Iraq war, no, even Iraqis don't want us there. Take note of the sovereignty negotions...

Now, our misguided foreign policy "chickens" are coming home to roost in an unanticipated way:

The recent threat by Israel to attack Iran could end in a far more horrific end-game then anyone imagined. Besides the potential horrific price to be paid for a percieved threat (I don't know of ANY nation willing to attack one with 200 nukes at their disposal, despite the sabre-rattling!), it is now appearant that the economic threat might be every bit as grim:

With oil ALREADY up to 128/barrel, just the jitters caused by Israeli politicians' statements kicked the price up to 139/barrel. Imagine if it really happened...

Oil at 250/barrel wouldn't be out of line, and THAT would not only stop our economy dead in it's tracks, it will surely impact other nations less robust economies even worse. Our economy is a house of cards already, teetering past recession.

Just imagine what the economic debacle following such Middle East stupidity might be like.

The word 'Depression' comes to mind.

The delegate system stinks. Not the the delegates are the problem, but the counting of them. Somehow 10 or so states on the east cost and Florida decide who we get to choose on Super Tuesday. On the Democratic side it is even worse. Florida Republicans decided to move up their voting. Horrible Idea, Florida should not speak for the nation. Well it did and gave us McCain. Who is not as senile as indicated above but is not a Good Candidate. The Florida Democrats said hey we are moveing it up to0. H. Dean of the DNC said NO. They said {rasberry}. And The DNC disenfranchised them along with Michigan. Thus sparking the debate about Florida. and Delagates. I love people's choice. But mine didn't count because when my election day came around, I could choose McCain or McCain. Or I could switch to the D, and vote for Clinton's policies or vote for Obama's policies. Which are the same?! Of course the D's had the same problem. That Governor of New Mexico He at least had Executive branch experience but alas no one but the east coast got a say. One Voting day sounds like a good Idea.
As for Iraq, We are extending some freedoms over there. They just don't want them or more likely they are to afraid of the "men who belong to a warped version of Islam that saies every one else must die but we can only do what we can accomplish right now. " We also cleaned up a mess we made with Saddam, We also stopped a WMD program that was a threat but could not have done anything nuclear to us. Any one also noticed that we have sandwiched Iran. We also have killed a lot of those terrorist. Hearts and Minds doesn't work over there. Not unless you have an army to back it up, because the "men who belong to a warped version of Islam that saies every one else must die but we can only do what we can accomplish right now. "are backing their propaganda up with an army. Syria, Iran, Taliban. The situation sucks. We put our hand into the viper nest and got bit. What is our other option. Diplomacy? Iran doesn't negotiate its we kill you if we can get away with it. Oh and they lie. Remember Iran's current power said they would have a democracy after the pulled down that horriable dictator the shaw. Right. Hearts and Minds. The common folk have seen real Freedom work for 200 years, and as many great strides as this nation has made they see only the mistakes and Freedom as a threat to their religion. They cant handle John 3:16 coins by ignoring them. They don't want freedom. The Common folk are afraid of loseing their identity, I think they could work through that but only with an army at their back fighting the scum of the earth while they do it.
Whats our other long term option. Wait until the bad guys devolpe a nuke let them use it on us and destroy half of the civilized world? Thats hearts and minds! If that sounds like Bush's stand it is. I was perfectly happy to wait and do nothing and pray for peace. Bush wasn't and I can't condemn him he made a decision and Congress cleared it. What did he do wrong. And McClellen's Bush lied, is propagranda. Why you ask because I have heard the Bush Adminastration say most of what I just said about the war. So how did he lie. He told us everything. So McClellen decided to lie because he was there, so therefore he would have creditability , so therefore people would listen or more correctly read his popular stance, so therefore the media who wants to make money would promote it, so therefore McClellen would make a boatload of money. He has no motivation to tell the truth and someone here is a worm. Its ether Bush who can't Sue or McClellen. Hmm Bush looked at the middle east after terrorists killed three thousand people, he choose his targets called the nation to arms, got permission and funding for Iraq and Afghanistan's. Has the support of all three of the branches and goes to war. McClellen can't sell the administration's stance and after 3 years gets retired. Then makes a boat load of money accuseing the president of lying and mistreating him. And because that sound good because Iraq wasn't a cakewalk and because we want to blame crooked polititions people buy it. Now look Bush along with any major Congress "name" Have good and bad. Our election process can't seem to get problemless people elected . I can't defend most of them but I will defend Bush on outright slander.
