This is really brilliant! So true, every single word. I wanted to stand up and applaud.

Sanityfound shared this post with me. Honestly it ranks right up there with some of the best I have ever read.

Beautifully said, beautifully written, and oh so true!

@kelli - Haha! I stole that last line of yours. Hope you don't mind. Excellent comment.

@Coffeewallah - Yep. He wouldn't be impressed when he looks at what people are doing in His name. And so true, he wouldn't look like those pictures they have of him either. You know, white, handsome, tall and thin. We have no clue.

@Keven - Yep. I wonder if they would be able to have three votes or one? Those pesky 10 Commandments really mess things up. It would be so much easier for people to be truly Christian if it wasn't those rules.

@EnergyEngineer - Am I going soft? We agree with each other often nowadays! But I think it is because we actually respect the views of each other. Not always agreeing, but seeing the value of the other view.

I see where you are coming from, and I agree. Miracle nah, I just agree.
Remember in the Bible the story about Israel and how they received their first king? Well the story goes like this, if you read closely. (well my personal interpretation ,dramatized and not intentionally twisted but I admit it deviates from the King James Version, Feel free to correct me.)
Israel: Prophet go talk to God and say we want a king like other nations I can see some advantages and we want to fit in.
Christ: No , its not a good Idea because ...
Israel: Go and ask again. (2nd time)
Christ: No, it not a good Idea
Israel: Please, we want a king
Christ: (remember 3rd time asking). It will be as you insist but your future king (implied king is not Christ) will chastise you and make your lives miserable. Prophet go and choose one whom I will chose.
Epilogue: The righteous king ruled the people were happy, but eventually evil kings came and Idolatry was happening.

Christ set up this nation so that we could have religious freedom and a government that laws set up the First amendment, and inspired the founding fathers. He didn't tell those Americans how to vote either. And he doesn't today and he won't tomorrow. He set up a good kingdom for Israel. But it isn't how we are suppose to live. There is a higher law and this world doesn't have it. It started with it but this country is second best to God ruling it. But If we don't have good wholesome moral leaders who are trying to improve themselves then we are going to be miserable.
Full admission disclosed, I don't believe in the A. Creed from Nicea ( I couldn't spell it right anyway. basically 3 in 1 Creed) I also believe in modern revelation. Nothing said but be good citizens.

Well, I heard that God was on the side with the biggest guns.

And since Jesus is part of the Trinity, wouldn't that mean that Jesus would vote for the same individual God would vote for?

But then again, what about the Ten Commandments?

This will take a long, LOOOOONG time, and many bruised psyches to figure out I think...

I suspect that if JC decided to put in appearance today one of two scenarios would play. Either he would be locked away in a hospital with burly dudes, meds and white jackets; or he would be welcomed by the fundamentalist Christians and end up with his own tv/radio and internet empire. Of course, given His teachings about love, forgiveness, brotherliness and all that, he'd probably be horrified at what is done in His name.
We must also remember, JC was Jewish and if memory of people in that region at the time were supposed to look like serves correct , he'd look more like an Arab terrorist with hooked nose, olive skin and frizzy Berber hair than an anemic white guy with long blondish hair.
Definitely a problem since that would make him, well, sort of, black right.
Just a thought from the non-religious.
