Okay, so I stayed away from blogging on politics for a week. But it doesn’t mean that I stayed away from politics for a week. I had another little act up my sleeve. Twitter… Yes, I used Twitter to tweet (write) on the Twit… I mean McCain.
You know Twitter? If not, here is a rundown. Twitter is what they call “mini-blogging”. You have 140 characters to say what you want to say. So keep it short is the angle. So not me. But anyway… You follow people and see what they tweet and people follow you to see what you have to tweet. Issues are random. From what you are doing to a random thought to saying what you are watching live. Anything goes really. Go and have a look. It’s an interesting concept. I know some of you use it as we already follow each other over there. Oh, and you can do it from your mobile phone in some places.
So I used Twitter during this period to throw a few shots at McCain and Pale-One. Here’s just a few highlights of my tweets and why I said it. Just a few highlights. Not all of them!
1. Just an insight on how I rate Sarah Palin…
2. Trying to understand why some Americans would vote for McPain…
3. The reason why I get so worked up about McCain and Palin
4. Reacting to a friend who refused to share a “juicy” piece of political rumor…
5. Not blogging on politics started to get to me…
6. Commenting on Palin seeing Russia from her house and claiming it makes her a foreign policy expert… (well, almost)
7. More commenting on her seeing Russia…
8. Not a funny one. Can you believe McCain did this?
9. And Palin did the same? See the difference? I don’t…
10. Got this one from the lovely wife…
11. Palin being pro semi-automatics for hunting? WTF?
12. McCain making Bush look good…
13. How low can you go…
14. Actually, he said it on the day I made this tweet…
15. Two “insightful” comments on McCain wearing flip-flops…
That’s it. I left out a number of tweets – especially those where I was having a “discussion” with a few other people. (Read: argument.) Not fair to raise them here. They are “Twitter” friends and not here to defend themselves.
See? I didn’t blog. I mini-blogged. Because McCain is just a mini-me of Bush. A mini-man. With mini-politics. And mini-ethics. I retract that. No ethics.
Oops… Did I just do a political blog? Damn.

Ooh. you stayed away from blogging on politics for a week. I was just wondering why your blog seemed to become more interesting lately.

But you are so good with expressing your global view and politics. Thanks for boiling down what twitter is. 140 characters that would be interesting to try. What a week in politics! I saw some poll tonight on MSNBC that had 71% believing McCain would make the better leader. Who ARE these people who think that? Makes me shudder.

“See? I didn’t blog. I mini-blogged. Because McCain is just a mini-me of Bush. A mini-man. With mini-politics. And mini-ethics. I retract that. No ethics.”
That was too good.
The whole politics thing will kill us soon I fear. The disgust I feel every day will one day engulf me and burn me up like the insidious flame it is.
Wake Me Up When It’s Over.

@holeycheese – Yeah, I know… You don’t like my political rants. I promise I won’t do that often anymore!
@ilovemylife – And I enjoy trying to understand where politics come from. I don’t get how they think so it helps me think through it. And then I lose my temper! Twitter is interesting. It takes discipline, but interesting.
@cooper – Haha! I think we all need to go on a holiday and come back when it is over. Only problem is… If the wrong guy wins then it might be all over.

You have a way with words my friend, a true talent – never really used twitter myself, too busy blogging lol!

I am embarrassed to admit this but I had no idea what Twitter even was until I read this post. I just recently started blogging so all this stuff is like a foreign language to me. I’m learning as I go. But wow – only 140 characters – I don’t think I’ve ever been able to be that articulately precise! #6 and #7 really cracked me up though. People who can mix politics and humor are truly gifted!

I hope you don’t get me wrong here.. it’s not your opinions that is the problem.. I don’t even know your opinion.. I fall asleep before finishing the first line even. The chair I’m sitting on is more interested in politics than I am
I pick the posts that I find interesting.. =)

Look forward to seeing you on twitter now that I’ve found you there.

AA – I am proud of you! I loved your love posts. Thank you for each one. I savored them like a piece of my favorite See’s chocolate and delighted in their unique and wonderful flavors.
My political sadness of the week? The crime that we should all hang our heads in absolute shame and disgust over? The proposal of cutting Social Security Benefits to the sick and handicapped and their cost of living increases for next year (this includes me by the way) taken away. By the way, there are now co-pays to be paid for health insurance for these people that they have to afford. All this on get this… $800 a month for EVERYTHING. Food, lodging, co-pays, transportation, medicines. I saw this one woman on the news, in a wheelchair, who needed an oxygen tube to stay alive saying she doesn’t know what she’s going to do….nice huh?

@SanityFound – Thank you! And welcome to Twitter!
@Fitch – 140 is one big challenge. But I use it to drop random thoughts on anything. A way to not just let a thought slip but to just throw it out there. And thank you for the compliment.
@holeycheese – No problem! We are all driven by different things. The best part is when we get to the bits where we share something. And that is generally the love we share with someone close to us.
@dantcer – Following you now! And welcome to the blog!
@Amber – Thank you for the kind words. And did you see that earlier this week (before the crash) McCain said he wants to change social security in the same way the financial sector has been changed? How many people must go down the way the banks are before we wake up? Hang in there Amber. We need you.

God what a truly, truly nasty week.
I hope that Republicans who still think their platform is viable remember this particular week. It’s a doozy, and now, our country is at the cliff’s edge.
You Republicans have whined about welfare, income redistrubution, and big government for years, and now?
Now?
You’ve eviscerated your own arguments by this remarkably huge $700,000,000,000 bailout that we have no alternative but to pass in one form or another. It reminds me of how quickly you disemboweled yourselves over the subjects of experience and race as it relates to your opponent, Obama.
I remind Republicans everywhere that they HAD BETTER hope that this FDResque bit of progressive income redistribution works. No paint on THIS particular pig, ladies and gentlemen! No siree!
Like I’ve pointed out on Swampland, and I repeat here:
You had better hope FDR’s ghost still walks.
Why?
Because everything, literally and simply everthing, that you have ever wanted in this world and for this country is depending on it.
My point?
If you are still so stupid that you would rather vote for a white guy that’s 72, and has become an inveterate liar over an obviously intelligent and knowledgeable Black man, then you get absolutely everything you deserve:
Great Depression II…

AA,
I never thought about using my Twitter account in the way that you have. I’ll have to keep this style in mind.
I enjoyed reading your Twitters.

@Keven – Hey! Welcome back. Missed your views over here. The take-no-prisoners and it’s-our-time voice!
@msladydeborah – It keeps me from blogging on politics. Maybe I’ll just do regular a Twitter-related blog. See you on Twitter!
